“Inscribe us in the Book of Life,”
Kotvenu b’sefer he-ḥayyim,

Jews pray between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. This comes from a midrash in the Talmud (Rosh Hashana 32b) about our fates in the year to come, but it also brings to mind an equally important question of this time: What is the Book of Our Life?

What is the story of our lives?

What is the story that is, and what is the story that we want to be?

Some of this is about the story we tell about who we have been.
